News about people and events in the Northeast Ohio.
Apologies to all of our readers and advertisers. Due to the departure of Mike Doyal (RITA), Action Magazine was not published during the month of August. New changes are on the drawing boards and will be introduced in the coming months........ Like to thank all of you who attended the July Action Magazine nite at the Troubadour Lounge in Youngstown. Eddie and his staff were great in helping to put on the Magic Show and the Divine Randi. Many thanks.
Aft fide ON THE BEACH
Many concerned people were at the benefit for Totie, held on the patio at Heaven. Due to an unfortunate accident, a fire caused damage to the Adams Row and the apartment above. Totie was burned severely over his body and is in Cleveland Metro Hospital Burn Unit. Over $1150 was pledged and money collected by many friends who planned the great event. D'j's from other clubs along with many bartenders helped with the show. Frankie Wurm .Kate Alexander, the Divine Randi, A special Magic Show, Miss D, Bobbie, Isis, and a super strip act by Mark highlighted the benefit. Many thanks to all those involved and we all hope to see Totie back on the scene in a few months. That was a super barbeque celebrating the first anniversary of Ginzzy's. The whole weekend was filled with cheer with the Friday evening featuring the Magic Show along with the Divine Randi; Kimberly Adrian, Mona Desmond, and that surprise guest that Saturday.
Meatballs, Corn in the husk, and assorted beverages was consumed by the wellwishers. Another 1st anniversary was held at the Toma hauk. The bowling buffet was also held there and both events were well attended. Congradulations are in order to Gloria for her continued support as a bar owner during the past 50 years, The Pickwood Lounge had one of the best rib roast dinners ever. Hope to see you at the "WE ARE FAMILY" picnic to be held at Wildwood Lake Park on Sunday September 11, 1983. Again this year there will be raffle prizes that will donated by local businesses. A 64K Home Computer, A MoPed, A Video tape recorder, a 10 speed bike, are Wildwood among the many prizes.
Lake Park is located in Columbia Station on Route 252 in Lorain County, just 20 miles southwest of Cleveland. Tickets for the picnic are $10.00 in advance or $10.00 at the gate, however, it is hoped that many people will buy the tickets in advance at selected Northern Ohio businesses or by mail order -P.O. Box 663, Lakewood, Ohio. 44107. (This is the mailing address of the Northern Ohio Coalition.) Advance purchase of the tickets will help the Coalition plan for the best picnic ever. Profit from the past picnics have been used in setting up rewards, aided the law enforcement agencies and the court system in the arrest, conviction, and death sentence of David Mapes for the murder of John Allen. NOCI also donated $10,000.00 to AIDS research. There are also several reward offers outstanding. We need to get out and support the Northern Ohio Coalition in their efforts and contributions. The Coalition is totally non-profit and all of the members donate their time and money to make this organization work.
